Please note: this article is primarily for users with a System Admin role attempting to build a rubric.
Click Config > Forms.
Select Add Form.
The first thing you'll want to do is name your form. It is important that you choose a name for a form that is unique and there are no other forms within your school district that have the name. Next, you'll choose whether your form is score-based or not, which you can toggle on and off. Below this option, you can adjust the scoring scale and average type. Hover over the question marks next to the score average types for more guidance.
Next, you'll add your strands. Strands are the headers of your rubric. Each strand will contain rows. We'll add rows after adding strands. To add a strand, press the green Add New Strand button. Here you'll enter a Strand Name and optionally, a Strand Description. You can add as many strands as you need, but once you publish your form, you won't be able to add new ones, so make sure to add the ones you need while in draft mode!
When you're ready to add your rows, you can click Create New Row or Add Existing Row.
If you add an existing row, the list will be populated with rows from your other rubrics. If you click Create New Row, the Row Creator popup will appear, where you can fine-tune the details!
A popup will appear, where you can name, abbreviate, and describe your row. Then, scroll down to select what type of row this is. In this case, I just want a textbox to write my comments, so I select Textbox Row. Once you have completed your row, click Create.
To build a Scored Row, select the Scored Row option in the Row Creator. You'll want to use the green Add button to add Options for scoring. For my scored row, I am adding the value of 0 for Needs Improvement, 1 for Almost Proficient, and 2 for Proficient. Once you have added all of your options, you can also add a text box to that row. If you select that option, in addition to providing a numerical score, observees will also be able to provide written comments.
A Percentage Row will give the observee the option to choose a percentage between 0% and 100%. You can always add a text box if you'd like. Remember to press Create once you have finished your row.
Using the Dropdown Row function will allow observees to select one option from the menu. Click Add to add options to the dropdown.
The last type of row is a Checkbox Row, which will give you the option to check off options on the menu. You can add both a label and description for your options. For this example, I am choosing to add three different options; Yes, No, and In Progress.
Customizing and Editing Rows
For each row, you'll have the ability to exclude it from the score, require it, or make it private. This can be easily toggled on and off in the Options section of each row. The only rows that will be automatically included in the score are Scored Rows. All other rows will be automatically excluded.
You can edit the row using the orange edit button next to the row name or delete it by clicking the red X button. You can also rearrange the order of rows within strands by using the three lines on the left side of the row details to drag and drop the rows.
Once you have finished editing your strands and rows, press the green Next button in the bottom right corner.
The next step is to setup the layout of your form. On the left side of this page, you'll see all of your Available Widgets, which will include any widgets that have been turned on in System Settings, but are not currently in use on your form. On the right side, you'll see the current widgets on your Left Panel and Main Panel of the observation form.
You can drag and drop widgets between the three sections interchangeably. Observation Details will automatically be in the Main Panel. You can edit this widget by clicking the navy Edit button. For all non-Strand widgets, you will be able to choose if you want it to be hidden on a Draft or Finalizing form, as well as rename the title.
Once you have moved all of your desired widgets to their panels, press the green Next button.
Publishing your Form
You will be taken to the Form Preview page, where you can see what your rubric will look like for an observee. Please note, you will not be able to edit or type anything into this preview. If you notice something that needs to be changed, click the Back button. Once you are ready to publish your form, press the light blue Publish button.
After your form has been published, you will have the option to edit the Form Settings or exit. Select the Form Settings button if you would like to edit these settings.
There are a variety of settings that you can adjust on your form, with help text to each header to assist you. You can always come back to edit these settings at any point in time. Once you have finished editing your settings, press the green Save button.
Your form is now public and ready to use!
