Learn the workflow for complete a See It, Name It, Do It Observation form in Whetstone.
Click Start on the top menu and then click Observe. Select the teacher you will be observing and then select See It, Name It, Do It as your form. Your school may call this form Observation Feedback, or something similar. Check with your school leaders if you are unsure!
If you would like to review the Get Better Faster Action Step Sequence, click the Resources button on the top right of the form.
The Running Record allows you to take continuous, time-stamped notes as you observe the teacher. These will default to be private from the teacher, but you can choose to share individual notes by clicking on the eye icon to the left of each note which will turn the note a peach color. While this form is in draft mode the observee won't see anything, but they will be able to see Running Record notes you mark as shared once you submit the form.
The form is broken down into five sections of the See It, Name It, Do It process. You'll notice that these text boxes are white which means private. So even after finalizing this form, the observee will be unable to see your notes. The purpose of this is to allow you to script out the feedback conversation you plan to have with the observee.
You can click the plus sign next to each section to view the Relay instructions and script. If you click on a bullet, it will auto fill into the text box where you can then make any edits.
Write the highest leverage action step in the third text box, titled Name It - New Action Step. Observers will be able to officially assign this Action Step to the observee after you've finalized the form.
The bottom right corner gives you several options to save. Click Finalize once your observation is complete.
Once you click finalize, you'll see a pop-up where you can choose to send an email notification to the teacher. Remember, they won't be able to see your See It, Name It, Do It script but they will be able to see any Running Record notes you opted to share.
On the finalized form, whatever you wrote in the Name It - New Action Step box will now appear in this Assign Action Step feature. Once you and your teacher have discussed the Action Step, you can add any Get Better Faster tags, and click Assign Teacher Action Step. This will go to the Action Step manager for the teacher, which you can check back in on at a later date!
